From Trinidad & Tobago to Romania, from steelpan stages to cruise ships, Japan, DJ booths and the world of electronic music — this is the journey behind Gorilla Boomin.
Music entered my life early. I began performing at 11 and grew as a vocalist, musician, songwriter and entertainer, eventually taking my sound around the world. Steelpan became a huge part of my identity, and I was personally trained and mentored by Ken “Professor” Philmore and Len “Boogsie” Sharpe.
My journey took me to Japan, where I spent seven years performing as a singer, dancer and musician with J.J. Renaude’s Body & Soul Show Group of Australia in Tokyo and Kamogawa, Chiba. Along the way I performed with island and Soca acts, hotels, resorts, casinos and cruise ships.
I also had the opportunity to share stages and musical spaces with artists including Shaggy, Rihanna, Machel Montano, Kes, David Rudder and Super Blue.
But the story didn't stop with steelpan.
While working on cruise ships around Miami and the Bahamas, I discovered another side of music: DJs, clubs, electronic dance music and the energy of a crowd moving to a completely different sound. I became fascinated by David Guetta, Martin Garrix, Tiësto, Calvin Harris, Marco Carola, Carl Cox, Diplo, Major Lazer and Skrillex.
For an island boy, that combination might sound strange — Caribbean roots meeting Tech House, Afro House, Latin, Dancehall, Soca and modern electronic music. But that's exactly what makes the Gorilla Boomin sound mine.
Today, the vision is simple: Pan Fusion. Steelpan can become a hook, a texture, a melody or a drop — fused with club and festival energy to create something people haven't heard before.
After stepping away from music for years, I'm building again — artist, DJ, producer, vocalist, steelpan player and creator. BAD//SIGNAL MUSIC STUDIO is the production world. XXGORILLABOOMINXX is the gaming world. And GORILLA BOOMIN is the artist at the center of it all.
